History
Tura Public School was established on 14 March 1981 by the Education Department, Government of Meghalaya under the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education. It is recognised as the only Government Public School in the Garo Hills among the five Government Public Schools of Meghalaya and has served the educational needs of the region since its inception.
The school is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, Delhi under affiliation number ME003. It offers the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education course up to Class X and functions as a co-educational institution from Kindergarten to Class X.
Legacy
Over the years, the school has built a notable record in academics and co-curricular life. Its alumni have gone on to serve in public administration, education, law, engineering, medicine, entrepreneurship and other professional fields in India and abroad.

A Message from the Principal in-charge
Tura Public School is the only ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) school in the entire region of Garo Hills, Meghalaya, managed by the Directorate of School Education and Literacy (DSEL), Department of Education, Government of Meghalaya. Since its inception, the school has been dedicated to meeting the holistic development of the child rather than focusing strictly on academic scores. The school serves as a Model Institution for the other schools of the district (Government as well as many Private Schools) to improve the functioning of the Education System of the District. The school has produced many bureaucrats, government officers, doctors, engineers, academicians, IFS officers, lawyers and entrepreneurs, who are giving their valuable contributions in India and abroad.
Tura Public School is one of the four Special Schools of Education Department, Meghalaya that follow the ICSE curriculum, along with Pine Mount School, Shillong Public School and Jowai Public School.
The teaching fraternity works unitedly creating a strong support system sharing resources, exchange best practices and lift each other up through daily challenges. Various committees are formed for various clubs and events like Eco-Club Committee, Sports Committee, Disciplinary Committee, Picnic Committee, Bagless Days & Co-Curricular Activity Committee, etc. to divide labour, organise task and ensure smooth execution. The school focuses on providing value-based education and empower students to face tomorrow's challenges as responsible, respectable, productive and globally competitive students.
